KANCHANPUR, SAPTARI — All attention of the local administration has now been focused on election security with the conclusion of the filing of nominations for the third round local-level elections.

The third round local-level election is taking place in eight districts of Province -2 on September 18.

In this connection, out of the 295 polling centres in the district, the District Security Committee has identified 207 polling stations as highly sensitive and 88 as sensitive in terms of security. The committee categorized the polling centres in terms of security risk based on confidential information it received and security assessment, it is stated. The district administration has also made arrangements for security accordingly.

Among the highly sensitive polling centres, some lie within the municipalities and some others in the Rural Municipalities bordering with India. There are nine municipalities and nine rural municipalities in Saptari district.

Chief District Officer Bhagirath Pandey said arrangements have been made for the security of the voting centres after carrying out onsite visit and an analysis of the latest developments as well as the overall security situation.

CDO Pandey said besides Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force, the Nepalese Army will also be mobilized for the election security. The District Police Office is preparing to mobilize 4,000 security personnel on election duty. RSS
