POKHARA — Newly elected Chair of Minimum Wages Fixing Committee, Gangadhar Parajuli, has pledged to take initiations for the enforcement of minimum wages for working journalist with timely adjustments.

Speaking at a programme organised by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Kaski Chapter Sunday to honour him and committee new member Ms Bimala Bhandari, he vowed to do his best to make his role on Committee meaningful for the media people.

FNJ, Kaski Chair Dipendra Shrestha said it was a matter of pride that two journalists from Pokhara had been nominated in the Committee. “Many media houses are yet to pay minimum wages to journalists and it is expected that the new leadership will be able to address concerns of working journalists.”

According to reports, only 38 percent journalists have been provided minimum wages in Nepal.RSS
