KATHMANDU–The Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport Management has suspended an account officer at Office of the Transport Department, Mechi, for embezzling Rs 9.2 million.
Account officer Bhagawan Bhattarai was suspended Sunday as he was found siphoning off Rs 9.2 million from the State coffer. He took advantage of the absence of office chief, as the later was deputed for the local level elections. Although the office repeatedly prodded him to submit the amount, he not only denied but left attending the office as well.
Spokesperson at Transport Department Dr Tokraj Pande informed the National News Agency (RSS) that they have written to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to initiate investigation against Bhattarai.
Bhattarai had few days left to get retirement.
The Department in the recent days has begun similar actions against the employees found siphoning off the amount from State coffer.RSS
