KATHMANDU — According to ABC News Australia, an Aussie doctor named Sarah Kemp has been arrested in Kathmandu, Nepal for illegal medical practice. The news comes after few days it was revealed that 17 foreign doctors were illegally practicing in Nepal without getting any proper accreditation from the Nepal Medical Council (NMC).

Kemp hails from Sydney, Australia and was practicing as a GP there. The news also reveals that Kemp is the director of the Kathmandu Travel Medicine Clinic. She was found treating foreign diplomats, and others.

The website of the Kathmandu Travel Medicine Clinic doesn’t include Kemp as one of its practicing doctors. It is yet to be seen whether the clinic will face any charges or not. The operator of the clinic, Pratibha Pandey, was also arrested by the CIB.

The Central Bureau Investigation (CIB) has reported the case to the Australian Embassy in Nepal. Dr. Kemp is in the jail for now and she faces three years jail imprisonment according to the medical law.
