In an interactive interview with Kathmandu Tribune, poet Dinesh Adhikari talks about his new book ‘Bhariyako Bhugol’.

A civil servant by profession, a poet and lyricist by passion, Adhikari released his book ‘Bhariyako Bhugol’ (World of a Potter) on April 28th. The book was released amidst Nepalaya’s Paleti series.

Dinesh Adhikari said, “When I was young I got the chance to travel with the potters in the eastern hilly region for three days. They talked about several things. But the most important thing was that they talked so that they could forget their tiredness.”

“They spend most of their life traveling which I find the happiest aspect of their life,” added Adhikari. He also mentioned that he has emphasized more on illustrations in this recent book of his.

Talking more about the book with Kathmandu Tribune, he said that he had written its first draft around three decades ago. He mentioned that in Nepal people use guides and potters in Mountain expeditions, trekking and even in furniture shops.

Dinesh Adhikari is famous for highlighting social injustice and responsibilities through his literary works. He believes that the value of potters in the society is in a decreasing trend nowadays and he wants to revive their importance among people.

Among several awards Dinesh Adhikari has received, the Madan Puraskar for his work ‘Atirikta Abhilekh’ in 1999 remains the most prestigious one. His first anthology of poetry
‘Indrajatra’ received Sajha Puraskar in 1994. Meanwhile, Bhariyako Bhugol is already receiving good responses from the readers.
