BHAKTAPUR — The 46th Conference of Council of Boards of School of Education, India (COBSE) is kicking off in Dhulikhel of Kavrepalanchok from coming Thursday, November 2.
‘Innovation in Evaluation’ is the theme of the three-day conference. Information about this was shared at a press meet organised by the National Examinations Board, Sanothimi.
The conference to be attended by representatives from other seven countries has been taken as an opportunity to carry out scientific reforms in Nepal’s examinations system, as said by Examinations Board chair Prof Dr Chandra Mani Poudel.
Sixty COBSE officials and examinations experts from Nepal, Bhutan, Mauritius, Pakistan, Singapore, UK and India will be there in the conference, Board member secretary Laxmi Ram Poudel said.
Education expert and Tribhuvan University Prof Dr Ganesh Bahadur Singh and Prof Dr Basudev Kafle are scheduled to present working papers on the topic.
The conference is taken significantly in view of reforming the existing three-hour written examinations system which has been realised of not being scientific and practical to evaluate the understanding level of students, Board Chair Poudel added.
Besides, it would provide opportunity to know about methods of examinations being practised in foreign countries and identity measures to improve the grading system implemented in the nation’s secondary level education. The recently implemented grading system was not fully practical, he added. RSS
