KATHMANDU — Newly appointed Health Minister Deepak Bohara on Wednesday met with agitating Prof Dr Govinda KC and said that the demands put forth by him would be addressed.
During the meeting, Health Minister Bohara said, “Prime Minister is preparing to bring medical education act by issuing an ordinance. He has been consulting the experts in this regard.”
Dr KC is on hunger strike for the past 14 days at TU Teaching Hospital putting forth various demands including reform in medical education.
The Minister said that the Ministry was positive towards the issue related to health and assured Dr KC that the demands would be addressed today itself by forging consensus on other remaining demands.
On the occasion, Dr KC said, “I was betrayed time and again. So I will not make agreement until the guarantee of implementation.”
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has been holding meeting with Education Minister Gopalman Shrestha, former Health Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa, Prof Kedar Bhakta Mathema and Dr Avishekh Singh, member of talks team of Dr KC at the official residence of Prime Minister, Baluwatar. RSS
