KATHMANDU — Embassy of India, Kathmandu in association with Central Hindi Department of the Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu celebrated Vishwa Hindi Diwas at Hotel Annapurna on 10th January 2018.

Hon’ble Minister for Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal Mr. Jitendra Narayan Dev graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The message of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi on the occasion of Vishwa Hindi Diwas was read out by the Ambassador of India to Nepal Shri
Manjeev Singh Puri.

Hon’ble Minister Dev emphasized the role of Hindi in strengthening the cultural ties between India and Nepal. Hindi unites India and Nepal together, he said. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Puri highlighted the role of Hindi in preserving the Indian culture and its importance in connecting different regions and societies. He emphasized on Hindi being a binding factor between the people of the two nations.

Artists of Indian Cultural Centre, Kathmandu enthralled the audience with their cultural performance. During the celebrations, 3 collections of poems and special issues of Hindi Magazines were released to mark the occasion.The celebration concluded with a Kavi Sammelan (poetry recitation) wherein around 20 poets presented their compositions in Hindi.

Around 200 persons from different walks of life attended the programme including Hindi writers, poets, journalists and officials of the Embassy.
