Facebook will soon roll out Facebook Messenger for children. But parents are unsure if it is safe for children in Nepal. The app is for children below 13 years where the content will be screened and parents need to approve whatever goes on in the messenger.

Facebook is introducing the Facebook Messenger Kids on App Store soon. The Facebook Messenger Kids is designed for free video calling and messaging for kids and families who wish to connect with each other. But is it really safe? Facebook explains that children can only connect with contacts that the parents have approved. But the trick question here is who will the parents approve and can children depend on their parents’ wisdom? Facebook asserts that the Facebook Messenger will have a controlled environment.

With increasing cyber crimes and weak internet security in Nepal, it cannot be asserted as of now whether the messenger app for children will really kick off or not. Let’s wait and watch.
