Foreign Secretary Bairagi delivers Nepal’s statement at UNGA meeting


KATHMANDU — Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, who is on a visit to New York today delivered Nepal’s statement on peacekeeping at the 72nd session of the 4th Committee of the UN General Assembly, on ‘Comprehensive Review of the Whole Question of Peacekeeping Operations in all its Aspects’.

In his statement, Bairagi highlighted Nepal’s contributions to global peace and security, while stressing the need for clarity of mandates, adequate resources, and safety and Security of peacekeepers. He reiterated Nepal’s full support in strengthening operationalized capabilities of UN Peace operations.

Similarly, he met with senior United Nations officials on the sidelines of the session.

During a meeting with Under Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman, he exchanged views on various aspects of relations between Nepal and the UN, according to the press release issued by Permanent Mission of Nepal in New York.

Similarly, he held a meeting with Under Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Mr. Liu Zhenmin and discussed matters of common interest between Nepal and the UN. RSS
