KATHMANDU — The Commission for the Investigation of Authority (CIAA) has lodged a case against former general manager of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Mahendra Lal Shrestha on corruption charge in the Special Court on Monday.

The anti-graft body has charged Shrestha of indulging in corruption worth Rs 28.88 million.

CIAA’s Spokesperson Jibraj Koirala has said that the case was lodged demanding maximum action against Shrestha as investigations revealed his unusual lifestyle and he amassed properties from corruption by misusing his official responsibilities.

The CIAA has said that the income and property details furnished by Shrestha from his entry in the NEA in 2036 BS and assuming the responsibility of GM till 2070 BS were quite contradictory. The CIAA said that the source of property of Rs 28.88 million was not found to be legal. RSS
