Govt committed to holding election in time: Minister Gautam

KATHMANDU — Minister for Irrigation, Sanjay Gautam, has reiterated that the government was committed to holding the elections in the slated dates.

Speaking in a face to face programme organized by the Reporters’ Club here in the capital city Sunday, Minister said that the government was not thinking to postpone the elections.

He added that the government does not want to interfere with the jurisdiction of court. According to him, Election Commission has not stated that it could not hold the elections in slated dates due to recently raised issues of printing separate ballot papers.

Similarly, CPN (UML) leader Som Prasad Pandey said that the UML would garner two-thirds majority in upcoming elections. He further said that the recently forged leftist alliance was for the political stability and economic prosperity.

Rastriya Janata Party general secretary Manish Suman said that the alliance between his party and Nepali Congress was only for election. He confided that his party was finding it difficult to forge coalition with NC due to its rigid stance.

Leader Suman added that they were asking for 55 seats with NC, but it was not ready for the same. He said that his party and Federal Socialist Forum had decided to contest in upcoming elections with common candidates. RSS
