KATHMANDU – The meeting of the Legislature-Parliament scheduled for today has been postponed without entering into the business due to the obstruction by the main opposition CPN (UML).
Reading out the letter sent by the President’s office regarding the election of the Prime Minister on the majority basis and holding discussions on the budget program were on the House schedule for today.
The UML lawmakers stood up from their seats soon after the Speaker Onsari Gharti announced the beginning of the House meeting, thereby obstructing the parliament to start its business.
The UML has been obstructing the parliament demanding to resume the vote count in Bharatpur Metropolis. The dispute among the parties over tearing of ballot papers of Ward Number 19 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City has reached a climax, leading to House obstruction.
The CPN (Maoist Centre) representatives allegedly tore down the ballot papers while vote counting was underway under the first-phase local level election in Bharatpur Metropolitan City on Sunday night.
The parliament meeting has been postponed until 11 am June 4.
