IPL 2017: Rising Pune Supergiant secure final spot after win over Mumbai Indians

In the first qualifier of Indian Premier League season 10, Rising Pune Supergiant beat Mumbai Indians by 20 runs and secured their spot in the final.

For Mumbai, they have to win against the winner of Hyderabad vs Kolkatta match to join RPS in final.

Washington Sundar was the star for Rising Pune Supergiant as his haul of 3/16 helped the team beat Mumbai Indians for the third time in IPL 2017. With this win, they have reached the final for the first time.

In first, Ajinkya Rahane, Manoj Tiwari’s fifties and MS Dhoni’s excellent batting cameo of 40 runs from 26 balls help RPS to reach 162/4 in 20 overs. In the last two overs, MS Dhoni and Manoj Tiwari put up 41 runs which seemed to be the turning point of the match.

Chasing 163, Parthiv Patel gave Mumbai Indians a fast start but Washington Sundar picked up three wickets in two overs to dent the hosts. MI lost complete momentum as Rising Pune Supergiant took wickets at regular intervals to seal a 20-run win. With this victory, Steve Smith’s team have entered the final for the first time while Rohit Sharma’s team will be awaiting the winner of the Eliminator between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders.
