JSU submits memo to acting PM Gachchhadar, demanding to scrap Education Act


KATHMANDU — The Joint Student Union has submitted a memorandum to Acting Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, demanding to scrap the Education Act (9th amendment).

The Union submitted the memo to Acting PM Gachchhadar at his office in Singha Durbar, said Secretary of All Nepal National Free Student Union, RC Lamichhane.

Receiving the memo, Acting PM and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, Gachchhadar, said that discussion regarding the Act would be held with all sides.

The Union demanded the immediate cancellation of the Education Act (ninth amendment), saying it would dent the quality education as it fails to select capable teachers.

Similarly, the memo also demanded to end aberration seen in medical college and to take action against the colleges imposing exorbitant fee.

Affiliation should be given to universities making criteria and Nepal Engineering College of Bhaktapur should be brought under the ownership of the government are also included in the memorandum.

President of Nepal Student Union, Nain Singh Mahar, Chairperson of All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU), Nabina Lama, Chairperson of ANNFSU (Sixth) Bimal Pokharel, Chairperson of Nepal Democratic Student Forum, Kapaleshwor Yadav and ANNFSU (Fifth), Ghanshyam Mishra, among others submitted the memorandum.

The Union is scheduled to submit the memo to top leaders of all political parties on Saturday demanding the cancellation of the Education Act (9th amendment). RSS
