KATHMANDU — The major ruling party Nepali Congress (NC) has finalised the names of its candidates (for all posts) for the third phase of local level elections taking place at 136 levels of eight districts of the Province no. 2.

However, the final name list of candidates would be unveiled only tomorrow as the Prime Minister and party president is out of the Kathmandu Valley today, said party office’s chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.

The party has constituted the election publicity committees and communications centers in all eight districts, deciding to send central representatives to these districts and moblise all sister organisations for the purpose of elections, as the office stated. People’s door to door programmes have been the priority of the party for the publicity efforts instead of mass meetings due to election code of conduct.

The Election Commission has fixed 3,578 polling centers for the third phase of elections taking place on coming September 18. The EC has said that over 31 thousand human resources including employees and volunteers will be mobilised to the conduct the elections.

A total of 26 lakh 64 thousand and 950 people are eligible voters for the third phase voting who are electing as many as 6627 their representatives for one metropolitan city, three sub-metropolises, 73 municipalities and 59 rural municipalities. RSS
