KATHAMNDU — The Nepali Under-19 cricket team defeated Bhutan by nine wickets in a match held today under the ACC U-19 Eastern Region qualifiers underway in Malaysia to secure its entry to the semi-final.

Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Bhutan was limited to just 50 runs in 28 overs at the loss of all wickets. Nepal met the target of 51 runs in 8.3 overs.

Nepali squad’s Aasif Sheikh contributed 23 unbroken runs to the team while it was Sandip Sunar who played with another 21 unbroken runs to shore up the Nepali team’s runs tally. Anil Saha too contributed four runs.

Skipper Deependra Singh Airee alone took five wickets in attempts to restrict Bhutan to 50 runs and Sandip Lamichhane took four wickets.
