KATHMANDU — Nepal beats UAE, registers a second win of the tournament Chasing 115 runs in 34 overs, Nepal completed the task within 29 overs and 4 wickets remaining.

Skipper Paras Khadka’s aggressive innings was the key for Nepal to register their second win of the tournament, defeating UAE by 5 wickets. Khadka scored 51 runs off 48 balls with 5 sixes.

Nepal had lost their openers within the first five overs, but Khadka came to the rescue with his quickfire innings. After skipper’s departure, youngsters Aarif Sheikh, Rohit Paudel and Sompal Kami took the responsibility to seal the victory for the team. Earlier, batting first, UAE were all out for 114 runs in 31 overs.

The game was reduced to 34 overs after the wet ground had delayed the start. Middle-order batsman Shaiman Anwar top-scored for UAE scoring 30 runs off 64 balls. Anwar was dismissed by Sandip Lamichhane, who ended with another impressive figure of 30 runs for 3 wickets. However, it was pacer Sompal Kami who was the star with the ball.

Also giving away 30 runs in his seven overs, he took 4 crucial wickets. Nepal had previously won Namibia in the first match and had lost to Oman by 23 runs in the second. Nepal will play Kenya tomorrow who are yet to register a win in the tournament.
