KATHMANDU — Nepali Churpi is in a high demand in the global market nowadays. Churpi, a Nepali-Tibetan delicacy, is a traditional cheese, like a ricotta. Traders now export Nepali Churpi to eleven different countries as a ‘dog chew’.

Churpi, which has its production unit in Ilam, has seen its business expand. Secretary of NCCI Prakash Jha says, “It also helps to uplift the national revenue”. He further adds, “It is a perfect source of income for countries like Nepal”.

The product’s largest consumer is the US. Whereas Canada is the second global market for the Nepali made Churpi. Israel is now the third largest market for the Churpi. “It will become the good source of income and it will flash the positive sign in the national economy soon,” adds Jha.
