There aren’t many good films from Nepal that people from other countries would probably love to watch but I can be sure about these films that they are milestone achievements in Nepali Film Industry.

SETO SURYA (White Sun)

Directed by Filmmaker Deepak Rauniyar White Sun probably is the best film ever made in Nepal amongst the few good films made in Nepal.

With a Metascore of 81 which no other Nepali language movie has received. This film boasts numerous International Film Awards. Seto Surya has garnered appreciation by critics in all of its premieres in the International Film Festivals.

Rauniyar has done a fantastic job maintaining detailed and intimate drama revolving around human with sharply observed political delicacy. This film is a landmark in Nepali film industry. It very beautifully encapsulates the post-war scenario in the Maoist Rebellion period in Nepal. Satirizing the traditions and beliefs where the old are set against the new, “White Sun” observes the dilemma of well-rounded characters and their baggage with each other through death and change. It also observes the guilt, transformations, and freedom that something as stark as war can bring into some people’s life. With a light touch and absurd comic situations, Rauniyar’s film slowly and assuredly becomes an important piece of cinema which gives every viewer in Nepal and around the world an opportunity to look into the world they live in or should know about.

Other top films are:

  1. Pashupati Prasad
  2. Kalo Pothi
  3. Talak Jung vs Tulke
