No use of children in election positive: NHRC

KATHMANDU — The National Human Rights Commission has said the initiatives taken by the Election Commission to stop use of children during election were very positive.

During a meeting among Spokesperson of the NHRC, Mohana Ansari, and Election Commissioners—Ila Sharma and Ishwori Prasad Poudyal, held at EC, the NHRC pointed out the need that government and non-government organisations should be committed to carrying out activities to protect human rights.

The discussion was held focusing the initiatives taken by EC not to let human rights violation during election preparation and publicity of election materials in local-level election scheduled in Province No 2 on September 18.

Other issues as security of voters, candidates and employees deployed in election were also discussed during said RC Spokesperson, Nabaraj Dhakal.

On the occasion, Commissioner Ila Sharma expressed the view that all should follow the election code of conduct to hold the election in a free and fair atmosphere and the role of NHRC. RSS
