CHITWAN — CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that KP Sharma Oli and he would chair the new political party turn by turn.

At a news conference in Bharatpur today, Prachanda said that Nepal Communist Party has been formed in principle and it would be materialized legally after the registration in the Election Commission.

“We have opted for two chairmen system until the general convention,” Prachanda shared.
The Maoist Chairman also added that the two leaders–KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal–have become the chairman of new party both practically and principally and as per the consensus they would also chair the party meetings on alternate basis. This would continue till the party’s general convention, he revealed.

As per the agreement, different taskforces have been constituted to prepare the interim political report, interim statute and organizational framework of the new political party to be formed after the unification of the CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre).

The Maoist Chairman said old committees of the two parties would be dissolved after holding a meeting within a week on the basis of suggestions of the taskforces and the statute and the new party would be registered at the Election Commission (EC) after forming a new central working committee.

Prachanda further said that general convention of the party would be held within two years and Oli would be the Prime Minister till the date.

He also shared that Maoist Centre would recommend the names of some leaders to be inducted in the cabinet today.

Likewise, Nepali Congress General Secretary Shashanka Koirala, who was also in the airport, congratulated Prachanda for the left alliance unity saying that they have taken the left alliance unity in a positive way. RSS
