POKHARA — The Sixth City REBAN and Food Festival is set to descend on the scenic city of Pokhara in the coming month.

Restaurant and Bar Association (REBAN) Pokhara Chapter is holding the festival at the Pokhara Exhibition Centre from September 18 to 27 coinciding with the arrival of the Bada Dashain festival.

The daily essential commodities along with goats and mountain goats — consumed extensively during the Bada Dashain — will figure at the festival. The performances by national artists in Dohari song competition, solo dance performances, and Ratyauli song will also figure during the event.

A slew of entertainment activities to punctuate the festival including the Dhido – a delicacy made of wheat, corn, and buckwheat flour – eating competition and the daring feat of catching a cock in a basket are certain to embellish the event.

A total of 125 stalls will be exhibited at the festival. The organizers expect to oversee an economic transaction in the range of Rs 80 to 100 million. The profit is estimated to touch Rs 4.8 million with expenditure standing at Rs 4.1 million.

The rest of the proceeds will be donated at the rate of 5 per cent each for the purpose of promoting tourism, prevention of natural disasters and as support for differently abled children, Senior Vice Chairman, Deepak Timalsena said. RSS
