Septuagenarians should be barred from contesting in elections: Defence Minister


KATHMANDU — Minister for Defence Bhimsen Das Pradhan has said that the septuagenarian politicians should not be permitted to contest in the elections.

Speaking in a programme organized by the Tokha Democratic Society here today, Minister Pradhan said that old leaders failed to give a clear vision to the national development therefore they should be barred from active politics.

Minister Pradhan, who is also the NC leader, further opined for ending proportional representation system as it could not address the genuine and targeted groups. He added that it even badly affected the political stability in the country.

Similarly, NC Kathmandu President Sabuj Baniya and party leader Shankar Bhandari urged the party leaders and cadres to be united for upcoming elections.
