Cancer is the second leading cause of death around the globe and studies have shown that about one in every three individuals is prone to develop any form of malignancy throughout their lifetime.

With that being said, through intensive researchers, experts have discovered that certain lifestyle habits such as refined-sugar diet, smoking, physical inactivity, fat-enriched food consumption and so on have been considered as the major factors that influence the development of cancerous cells.

Hence, if we adopt simple lifestyle changes like regular exercise, eat a healthy diet, quit smoking and so on, it’ll evidently reduce the risk of cancer. 8. Protect Your Skin From Harmful UV

Staying in sun for too long like tanning or sunbathing, burning the skin can increase the risk of skin cancer.

The chemical resveratrol found in grape skins and in red wine might prevent cancer as they are found to kill the dangerous cells that form tumors inside the body, decreasing the probability of cancer.Therefore, it’s advised to take two to three glasses of wine for better results.

You might not believe this but onions and garlic are the best cancer-fighting food. Various studies have shown that eating lots of pungent herbs like onions and garlic might keep certain types of cancer at bay.

Studies in Iowa Women’s Health study reported 50% lower risk of colon cancer in women who consumed a greater amount of garlic. Not only this, onions and shallots contain powerful antioxidant properties that can prevent the growth of tumor cells while garlic consists of allyl sulfur compounds which experts state that it stimulates the body’s immune system and activates defense mechanism against cancer.

Exercise is without a doubt the ultimate cure to any form of the disease and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center states that men and women exercise daily have 30-40 percent lower risk of cancer.

Unlike intensive exercises, simple exercise routines like aerobics, walking, and running are effective to lower the breast cancer risk in women. Not only this, taking a regular 30 minutes walk can reduce 50% of the chances of developing pancreatic cancer.

Green tea consists of active ingredients like polyphenols which scientists have found to help kill cancer cells and stop its progression. To add more, regular consumption of green tea can avoid the risk of different types of cancer from ovarian, colon, prostate to breast and lung cancer.

Green Tea composes a chemical compound, EGCG that is thought to be a strong anti-cancer compound. Drinking green tea has many other benefits, hence it’s advised to take a sip of green tea on daily basis.

3. Avoid Fast Food and Sugary Drinks

Researchers have proved that women who drink excessive amounts of sugary beverages are up to 87 percent higher risk of endometrial cancer than those who do not consume soda drinks. Also, fast foods like french fries or deep fried chicken and burgers contain a potential cancer-causing compound, acrylamide. which is formed due to chemical changes in foods.

A study performed in rats showed that prolonged exposure to acrylamide increased a risk of multiple types of cancer. Also, sugary drinks like Coca-Cola can cause endometrial cancer along with obesity and diabetes.

2. Don’t Use Dry Cleaning

Dry Cleaning has become an inevitable part of our modern life but excessive dry cleaning can result in increased risk of cancer. Dry cleaners use a carcinogenic chemical called perc (Perchloroethylene), that is found to cause kidney and liver damage, causing cancer if exposed or inhaled for a longer time.

Also, as an alternative its better to use dry cleaning products that do not contain the chemical and even if you must dry-clean your clothes, always take them out of the plastic bag and air them outside for some time before wearing them.

1. Eat a Balanced Diet

Almost 80% of the food we eat today are either chemically processed, contains refined sugar or preservatives which when consumed for a long period of time ultimately invites cancer-causing agents. That’s why, it’s advised to eat a healthy, organic balanced diet, especially foods that contain resistant starch like green bananas, rolled oats and white beans that might help reduce the risk of colon cancer. Instead of red meat, you can always opt for white fatless meat like chicken and fish.

Fruits like Kiwi and vegetables like broccoli have cancer-fighting antioxidants, including Vitamins. Studies showed that women who ate wild salmon for three to four times a week were 33 percent less likely to have growth of tissue in the colon.
