NAWALPARASI — As some top leaders are preparing to vie in the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies from Nawalparasi district that has been split into two districts, both the election and the prospective candidates have become the talk of the town.
The election to the House of Representatives is taking place in 32 districts on November 26 while the election to the State Assemblies is taking place in remaining 45 districts on December 7.
Nepali Congress General-Secretary Dr Shashank Koirala is likely to run for the election to the House of Representatives from constituency no 1 from the eastern district in Nawalparasi while former State Minister for Home Affairs and Nepali Congress central member Devendra Raj Kandel is vying for the House of Representatives from constituency no 2 from the western district of Nawalparasi.
Similarly, Free Alliance’s advocate and former Minister Hridesh Tripathi is going to contest from western district (Bardaghat Susta) constituency no 1 with Sun as an electoral sign.
Likewise, CPN-UML central member Tilak Mahat is also bound to contest from Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta) eastern district constituency no 2 while CPN-MC leader Ghanashyam Yadav will be contesting from western district constituency no 2.
CPN-UML central member Baijanath Chaudhary is also likely to contest the election to the House of Representatives from the eastern region constituency no 1 ‘Ka’ area.
There are now four constituencies for the election to the House of Representatives and eight to State Assemblies after the division of Nawalparasi into two districts.
429,894 voters in Nawalparasi
There are 429,894 voters in two districts of Nawalparasi. Voters of Nawalparasi (east of Bardaghat Susta) towards province no 4 and Nawalparasi (west of Bardaghat Susta) towards province no 5 would cast their vote, according to the District Election Office, Nawalparasi (east of Bardaghat Susta).
There are 221,662 voters in Nawalparasi district (east of Bardaghat Susta) and 208,232 voters Nawalparasi district (west of Bardaghat Susta), said District Election Officer of west of Bardaghat Susta area, Ayodhya Prasad Bhandari.
A total of 3,638 employees would be deployed in the election in both Nawalparasi districts. RSS
