Gujarat is known for its industrial development.It economic model is centred on the business-friendly environment. The perfect example is the Tata’s Nano.In 2008, Tata Nano had disputed regarding Land settlement in Singur. The then Chief of Gujarat and present Prime Minister Narendra Modi allotted land for factory setup for Tata Nano. Despite no possibility for hydro-electricity, it is ahead in the production of surplus power generation. Reliance Industries which is situated at Jamnagar is the world largest oil refinery at the single station.

World largest shipbreaking yard is located at Bhavnagar. Liquid Chemical Port Terminal at Dahej consist of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals are is at Dahej and Hazira. Under Jyotigram Yojana, newly 100% of its villages are under 24 hours’ powers for household and eight hours to the farm. It is the first state in India to develop gas-based thermal electricity generation and occupies 8 percent of the national market. It ranks second in nuclear electricity generation shares 1 percent in the national market. The state has registered 12.8% agricultural growth in last five years. Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Ahmedabad and Surat are major cities. Ahmedabad ranks no 3 as the fastest growing cities in Gujarat after Chengdu and Chongqing of China.

Tata Nano the world’s least expensive car is manufactured in Sanand. It is rich in calcite, gypsum, manganese, lignite, feldspar, agate and quartz sand are mined. It produced 98% India soda ash and 78% national requirement of salts. General Motors manufactures its cars at Halol, Tata Nano from Sanand and AMW trucks at Bhuj. Worlds 92% percent of diamonds are cut and polished at Surat. Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region is well established in an area of 453,000 square hectare-in Bharuch.“Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor Summit” which was held on 11th  to 13th  January 2015 at Mahatma Mandir Gandhinagar, state of Gujarat signed Memoranda of Understanding for Special Economic deal of 2.5 million crores rupees was sanctioned. It mainly focused on household industry. January 2009, the fourth Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors, Summit held at Science city Ahmedabad 600 foreign delegates were present. In all 8668 MOUs worth Rs 12500 billion were signed which expected to open 2.5 million job opportunities.

It produced 43,848 million which was surplus, required was only 40,793 million since April 2010. It sold its surplus electricity to twelve states: Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Karnataka, West Bengal and Maharashtra. It harnesses it solar energy for generating electricity, it produces 716MW which help in bringing about Rupees 120 billion and generate 5000 employment. In terms of renewable energy, it shares 14%(12,489 MW). Country’s 80 percent of Compact Fluorescent Lamp(CFL) is produced and demand for ceramic ware is fully filled from here. Due its well-planned economic and infrastructure developed, it has least unemployment rate of only 1% comparing to the national ratio of 3.8%.

Legatum Institute’s Global Prosperity Index 2012, Gujarat is rich in social capital. The states ranked 15th in terms of development ahead 142 nations, much ahead of developed countries. It is getting richer, enjoys faster GDP growth, high chances of getting jobs and industrial growth.
