KATHMANDU — Nepal government has decided to put an indefinite ban on import of Euro 3 standard vehicles. The decision comes in light after the government is set to allow import of Euro 4 standard vehicles only.

Euro 4 standard vehicles are considered good for the environment as most developed nations have phased out Euro 3 standard vehicles.

Environment Minister Lalbabu Pandit has given the direction to only import Euro 4 standard vehicles.

Minister Pandit has also declared that he will make Kathmandu mask-free within a year. Pandit is also determined to introduce new laws to curb pollution.

Sources say that parts of Euro 3 standard vehicles might have entered Nepal after India phased out such vehicles.
