We all go through a romantic honeymoon phase during the first few stages of our relationship where you just can’t get enough of each other, always smooching and making love like there’s no tomorrow. But as time passes by, you might feel a change in your partner’s behavior, especially when you’re lying next to each other in bed and he/she is not reciprocating your sexy moves.

The distant and silence is eating your brains and you drown yourself in self-doubts. Is He Tired of Me? Is there another person? Doesn’t he/she find me attractive anymore? Is it the loss of love? And before you even realize, your once perfect relationship is all bruised and flawed. But instead of playing a blame game or accusing each other have you ever thought that your partner might be facing problems or the fact that something is bugging him or he/she might be facing any medical condition.

We’ve enlisted some of the possible reasons why your partner is just not in the mood for sex. It helps!

1. Work Stress

Let’s face it! We are all swamped with work, most of which we don’t even like and the stress caused by it too much which ultimately affects our personal life too. Stress increases the level of cortisol hormones that eventually lowers the sexual appetite in a human. Hence, if your partner is getting his ass kicked at work, he/she is not being able to focus on you and of course SEX!

2. Financial Crisis

Studies have shown that most couples divorce or split because of a financial crisis in the lives of one of the partners. Lack of communication regarding such woes can be another main reason that your partner is not letting himself into you.

3. Body Shame

Most people don’t feel great about their body which makes them really uncomfortable to get naked. Your partner too might be going through such problems and your comments regarding their body or weight might be bugging him/her for really long. And this too might be one of the reasons why he/she is saying No to sex!

4. Sexually Abused History

Just when you thought you knew everything about your partner, this might slam you right in the face! People with experiences of sexual abuse or childhood trauma tend to avoid sex or any other physical contact. Wendi L. Dumbroff, a professional couple therapist states, “Many times individuals have never even connected their personal history of abuse with their issues around their desire for sex, but the impact can be very powerful.” Hence its necessary for both of you to communicate and share these things and go for a therapy session to move on from this.

5. They Might Not Be Horny

Forcing your partner to have sex when they are not in the mood is probably the worst step in a relationship. When a man/woman says no, then their respective partners should respect it and give them space. Just be supportive of each other’s need and everything will fall into the right place. (wink)

6. Infidelity

Trust is a crucial part of intimacy between two partners and if either of them has cheated, then it’ll be difficult for him/her to fall back into your arms and have a sexual relationship, pretending nothing ever happened. Cheating spouse is the ultimatum that the relationship needs to end.

7. Certain Medications

Medications like those used for anxiety, depression, and others have shown to lower the sex drives in men as well as in women. Certain medications can also cause vaginal dryness and although you are interested in making love, it’s just not happening.

8. Erectile Dysfunction

ED affects an estimated 52% of total men and it has been considered as one of the most common sexual disorder in men. Due to this disorder, most men avoid sexual encounter to escape embarrassment in front of their wife or girlfriend. So, ladies, it’s better to find out if your man is going through it and immediately take help from your doctor. Women and men both should understand that just having sex and sharing intimacy is a totally different thing- the latter being more important in a relationship.

9. Lack Of Hygiene

Personal hygiene and self-grooming is an important part of a healthy relationship as it feels nice to make an effort for your partner to look good and smell nice. If you’re not taking care of your body, not showering every day, or your breath stinks, then it’ll definitely make your lover run away from you!

10. Masturbating Too Much

Masturbation is a healthy practice and mutual masturbation with your partner is even a better and safe practice than intercourse. But if your partner is going solo and masturbating several times a day, then it will definitely burn down the heat between two inside the bedroom.

Experts say that ejaculating once a day is healthy and it helps in increasing the girth and longer erection in men. However, too much masturbation could lead to addiction too.
