 trended on Twitter after the brutal death of Nirmala Panta (13) in Kanchanpur. Protestors from the aforementioned region had scuffled with the police demanding the culprit be punished.

Nirmala was found dead in a sugarcane field on July 27. The case remains unresolved till now where the public believes the police and state actors involved in it.

4. CIB Nepal nabs Canadian Peter Dalglish in pedophilia case

Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) Nepal arrested sixty-years-old Canadian Peter Dalglish in pedophile case from Kartike, Nagarkot on Saturday morning around 6:30. Danglish was staying at Chil Kaji Maharjan’s home and was found with two children aged 12 and 14. The children have been rescued and Dalglish is now under investigation for pedophilia. Mr. Dalglish is still in the jail.

5. Myanmar state counselor to visit Nepal, attend Asia-Pacific summit

Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi paid an official visit to Nepal soon and attend the Asia-Pacific Summit-2018 to be held in Kathmandu, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

Suu Kyi will make the trip at the invitation of Nepalese Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli. The controversial summit received a lot of criticism from everywhere.

6. Nepal win the ICC World T20 Asia Qualifier ‘B’ as Malaysia squeeze through to next stage

Nepal finished top of the seven-team standings with 11 points, the same as Singapore, but with superior run-rate. Nepal will play the next round in 2019 and hopes to play in the T20 World Cup.

7. Tiger population doubles in Nepal

While the number of tigers in many countries is witnessing a decline, a recent survey led by the Government of Nepal has shown that the population of tigers has almost doubled in under a decade in the country.

8. Nepal govt bans porn sites

In the wake of increasing rape cases in Nepal, the government sent out a press release stating porn sites and pornographic materials are now banned in Nepal.

Mahendra Gurung, the Secretary at Ministry of Communication and Information Technology told Kathmandu Tribune that the process is already underway to ban porn sites in Nepal. He added, “It has been already started to be implemented, and we are aware VPN and other ways of bypassing, many other challenges, we will be working on to ban everything as we go”.

Nepal government has already banned 25, 000 plus porn sites till date and the number is only increasing. At the same time, the number of Nepali accessing VPN is increasing.

9. 6 dead in Nepal chopper crash

At least six passengers, including a Japanese national, died after an Altitude Air helicopter, with seven people on board, crashed in central Nepal.

Chief District Officer of Nuwakot District, Uddab Bahadur Thapa, told ANI that the fatalities were confirmed and a female passenger has been rescued.

10. Nepal, China conclude protocol of Transit Transport Agreement

Nepal and China concluded the protocol of Nepal-China Transit Transport Agreement (TTA) which was signed in March 2016 after two-day talks in Kathmandu, Nepal’s Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply (MoICS) said on Friday.

During the third bilateral consultative meeting on Sept. 4-6, the breakthrough was achieved, paving the way for the implementation of the TTA.

11. Setback for Nepal, Bhutan as India Says It Won’t Take Back Demonetized Currency

Nepal and Bhutan have been pressing India to exchange currency worth millions of dollars they have in Indian bank notes that are no longer valid. On November 8, 2016, India demonetized 80% of its currency notes, replacing them with new notes as part of its drive to weed out counterfeit currency.
