Kanchanpur — A fire at a cotton industry at Chabanni Bazaar of Beldandi rural municipality – 2 on Thursday has inflicted a loss of more than Rs 600,000.

The fire at the industry owned by Bir Bahadur Mali destroyed supply – ready materials including cotton, quilt and mattresses said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gyan Bahadur Seti of District Police Office, Kanchanpur. The fire was taken under control by the local residents and police officers.

One arrested with two kilos of hashish

Police on Thursday evening arrested a man in possession of two kilos of hashish from Kaluwapur area of Shuklaphanta municipality – 11 in Kanchanpur.

A joint team from Regional Investigation Bureau and Area Police Office in Jhalari arrested 21 – year – old Jaya Japrel during a search at Pillariphant of Shuklaphanta municipality – 8.

The police waylaid a bike (Se 2 Pa 8016) heading east and arrested Japrel with the hashish hidden inside a bag, said Inspector Mohan Saud of Area Police Office, Jhalari.

Japrel is currently under detention at the Area Police Office and will face a case for transporting contraband drug.
