Fast X is revving up the box office with an impressive $67.3 million opening in North America and a whopping $320 million globally. As the 10th installment in the popular franchise, the film is off to a promising start, although it is experiencing slightly lower opening numbers in the U.S.

However, the international market is where Fast X truly shines. It is on track to soar past $252.7 million in its international debut, making it the second highest-grossing debut of the year, just behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Globally, it ranks as the third highest opening in the franchise, trailing behind The Fate of the Furious and Furious 7.

Fast X is set to dethrone Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 from the box office throne, which is currently in its third weekend and projected to earn an additional $32 million-$33 million domestically.

In North America, the film received a B+ CinemaScore from audiences, matching the grade given to F9: The Fast Saga, which debuted with $70 million in 2021 amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Directed by Louis Leterrier, Fast X boasts a star-studded cast led by Vin Diesel, along with franchise regulars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sung Kang, and Jordana Brewster. Newcomers such as Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, and Rita Moreno, who plays Diesel’s grandmother, join the ensemble. The film also features Nathalie Emmanuel, John Cena, Jason Statham, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron.

As described by The Hollywood Reporter, Fast X packs in numerous beloved characters, both old and new, creating a jam-packed and action-packed experience. The film showcases the unstoppable Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family facing their most formidable opponent yet, a vengeful and menacing villain portrayed by Jason Momoa, who is determined to shatter Dom’s family and everything he holds dear.

Fast X’s explosive performance at the box office solidifies its status as a global blockbuster, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating the upcoming 11th installment, with Leterrier also attached to direct.
