NEW DELHI, INDIA (Xinhua) — The last monarch of Nepal, Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, will arrive in India Wednesday on a six-day visit, sources said Tuesday.

“Former King Gyanendra will be going to Odisha state in eastern India, where he will visit temples, including Shree Jagannath Temple in the town of Puri, to offer prayers,” sources said.

Odisha and Nepal have decades-old spiritual ties.

King Gyanendra ruled Nepal for nearly seven years, from 2001 to 2008, after the death of his brother, before the Hindu nation abolished the monarchy.
