KATHMANDU — Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Sunuwar (Bishwokarma) has said that an arrangement has been made for providing health and accident insurance coverage to the players contributing in national and international sectors.

Unveiling the progress details of the activities carried out by the Ministry in the last 100 days, Minister Sunuwar said that arrangement of accident insurance would be made for the players, who sustained injuries in course of playing for the country, from this year.

He further said that preparation was underway to construct and upgrade necessary physical infrastructures for upcoming 13th South Asian Games. Saying the taskforce formed by the Ministry for determining the number of games and players participating in the Asian Games has completed its task, Minister Sunuwar stated that Rs 5,000 monthly would be provided to players bagging gold medal as well as Rs 3,000 monthly to Olympian players as the honor allowance.

The Sports minister expressed the view that the ministry would move ahead collaborating with private sector for the development and expansion of sports sector. Similarly, Member-Secretary at the National Sports Council, Keshav Kumar Bista, said that construction task of Dasharath and Pokhara Stadiums would be completed within next 10 months. Similarly, all preparations for 13th SAG to be held in Nepal are over, said Bista.

He further said that a plan has been set to forward construction of a stadium of international standard with a capacity to 50,000 seats within coming three years. Likewise, Secretary at the Ministry, Mohan Krishna Sapkota, said that the Ministry has carried out various programmes including national and international competition, election of Al Nepal Football Association within 100-days.

A 12-year sports master plan has been prepared, implementation action plan of Youth Vision-2025 was formulated and the concept paper for the establishment of Sports University was prepared by Sports Science Academy Nepal, he added.
