In a historic moment for Nepal, the much-needed health care bill has been passed by the legislature-parliament. The move was successful due to the Nepali Congress former health minister, Gagan Thapa. At a time when the health sector of Nepal is in shambles, this bill brings a relief to the common Nepalis.

Once the bill comes into effect, it will usher a new era for Nepali people who struggle to meet needs to pay for the expensive health system. Not only the bill will bring a uniformity among all, it shall also bring stability and prosperity to the health industry.

The effort of Gagan Thapa and Dr. KC shouldn’t go in vain. The syndicate culture of health industry has to end too. Everything, that, affects the lives of Nepali people has to come to an end.

The bill is just a stepping stone for the health industry of Nepal. There’s much more to do and we believe that the new parliament of 2018 will ensure it. The booming population of Nepal cannot be ignored and this bill is the right precursor and an epitome of good things to come. Or will it be a bane like it is for U.S. and other developed nations where health insurance companies and politicians are making bucks out of it?
