KATHMANDU — A helicopter from Air Dynasty carrying Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari has crashed near Pathibhara in Taplejung district during an official visit of the construction site of the new airport Chuhan Danda and the Pathibhara Temple.

For now, no further indication has been shared by authorities about the causes of the accident.

Only a few testimonies from locals report a loud explosion noise and smoke.

During the tragic event, Captain Prabhakar KC (pilot),  Ang Tshiring Sherpa (tourism entrepreneur, Managing Director of Yeti Airlines), Arjun Ghimire (security personnel),  Yubaraj Dahal (Prime Minister’s advisor), Birendra Shrestha, and one other unidentified person have perished after the impact.

A disastrous event, mourned by the entire country

Rabindra Adhikari was an important figure in Nepal’s tourism development and transportation infrastructure evolution. The partnership and diplomatic relationship he formed with foreign investors and neighboring countries such as China and India will hopefully continue to thrive in his absence.
