New Delhi, March 28, 2023 – Indian authorities have requested Nepal’s help in apprehending Amritpal Singh, a separatist leader who is reportedly hiding in the Himalayan nation.

Singh is a prominent figure in the separatist movement in India’s Punjab state, which seeks to create an independent Sikh state called Khalistan. Indian authorities accuse him of being involved in terrorist activities and have been seeking his arrest for several years.

According to sources, Singh fled to Nepal recently and has been hiding there with the help of local sympathizers. Indian officials have now approached Nepal’s government to help locate and apprehend him.

This is not the first time that India has sought Nepal’s assistance in tracking down individuals who are wanted by Indian law enforcement agencies. Nepal has previously cooperated with India on such matters, reflecting the close diplomatic and cultural ties between the two countries.

The news of Singh’s alleged presence in Nepal has raised concerns among Indian officials, who fear that he may be using the country as a base to plan and carry out terrorist activities in India. However, Nepali authorities have not yet commented on the matter.

The development comes amid a broader crackdown on separatist and extremist groups in India, with the government taking a tough stance on terrorism and separatism.
