The last match between Nepal and UAE in Cricket League 2

In the recent matches held in Nepal, we witnessed one of the craziest things to happen in associate cricket. In that match, fans watched the game from outside the stadium, perched on big trees. We can surely say that Nepali fans are some of the most passionate cricket fans in the world.

On March 16th, 2023, Nepal played its last match in the ICC League 2. This match was a must-win for Nepal if they hoped to stay alive in the ICC League 2 and finish in the top 4. If Nepal finishes in the top 3, they will have a chance to play in the ICC World Cup qualifier in July alongside South Africa, Sri Lanka, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Zimbabwe.

Asif Khan scored the fastest fourth century in ODI history for the UAE, but

Nepal chased the biggest target ever set for Nepal. The match was stopped in the 44th over due to bad lighting, and UAE players tried to delay the match to win it. However, Nepal passed the DLS score and won the match.

Due to Nepal’s popular cricketers, the world is keeping an eye on Nepali cricket. If Nepal finishes in the top 2 in the World Cup qualifiers, it will play in its first-ever ODI World Cup. Nepal has already played in the T20 World Cup in 2014, winning two out of three matches in the first round. Due to a low run rate, Nepal couldn’t reach the second round of that T20 World Cup.

One day before the match, all 15,000 tickets were sold out. But according to CAN, over 35,000 fans watched the match between Nepal and the UAE, which is more than double the capacity of the stadium. Around 15,000 fans watched the match from outside the stadium’s walls. From all over Nepal, Nepali cricket fans were a part of the historical match. Cricket is the most popular game in Nepal. Nepal has won the last 11 out of 12 matches to qualify for the World Cup qualifiers.

Nepali Cricket fans’ popularity

Cricket experts appreciate Nepali fans for their passion for cricket. Also, Stuart Broad, Monty Paneshar, Aakash Chopra, and Daniele Wyatt express their thoughts on Nepali fans. We can expect to see this type of fandom in the next month’s Asia Cup qualifiers held in Nepal.
