#JusticeforNirmala is trending on Twitter after the brutal death of Nirmala Panta (13) in Kanchanpur. Protestors from the aforementioned region had scuffled with the police demanding the culprit be punished.
Nirmala was found dead in a sugarcane field on July 27. Mentally-challenged Dilip Singh Bista was arrested on August 20 after his confession to the district police office. The residents and parents, however, believe that Mr. Bista is not the real culprit.
Six civilians and two policemen were injured yesterday in the clash between the protestors and the police. Altogether 150 teargas shells were fired by the police at the demonstrators.
A twelve-hour curfew was imposed and lasted till six a.m. today.
