In a momentous decision, they announced the esteemed recipients of the Jagdamba-Shri Award for the year 2078 and the Madan Award for 2079.

Jagdamba-Shri Award 2078

Mr. Tekvir Mukhiyajiu has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious Jagdamba-Shri Award for his remarkable achievements in bridging the gap between literary art and readers. Among the books published in 2079, “Ainthan,” authored by Mr. Vivek Ojha, has been honored with the Madan Award for 2079. “Ainthan” delves deep into the haunting nightmare of Nepal’s historical conflicts and their enduring impact on Nepali society. It masterfully combines the technique of dream writing with exquisite fictional art to vividly portray the agonizing convulsions of a nation still grappling with the scars of its past.

The selection process for the Madan Award was rigorous, with 313 submissions considered. From this extensive list, five outstanding books emerged as the ‘Madan Puraskar Shrestha List 2079,’ a testament to the literary excellence present within Nepali literature. These titles include “Izoria” by Subin Bhattarai, “Ainthan” by Vivek Ojha, “Chakravyuhama Jalsrot Nepal” by Dwarikanath Dhungel, “Thangra” by Pragati Rai, and “Matako Ghar” by Sanjay Bishta.

A Legacy of Literary Excellence

The Madan Award, established in 2012, has a storied history of recognizing exceptional works in Nepali literature from Nepal and beyond. Since its inception, it has celebrated remarkable contributions across various categories, enriching the literary tapestry of Nepal. Notable past recipients include Shri Satya Mohan Joshi for “Our Folk Culture” in the Prose category, General Bhimsen Thapa for his contributions to Social Science, and Shri Balram Joshi for the groundbreaking “Achivibhava Stathividyut Productive Book” in the Science category.

In 2045, following the passing of Rani Jagdamba, the Jagdamba-Shri Award was established in her memory. This accolade seeks to honor individuals and organizations that have significantly advanced Nepali language, literature, and culture through various impactful means. The inaugural Jagdamba-Shri Award was presented to the legendary Shri Narayan Gopal.
