Rolpa (RSS) — A Magar museum has opened in Rolpa for the preservation of the Magar culture.

Some Magar community leaders set up the museum out of their concern for what they called the growing encroachment of modernization on their indigenous culture thereby pushing it to the verge of disappearance.

President of the museum Bhim Bahadur Magar said the museum has been set up for handing over the culture to the new generation by protecting the unique art, culture, traditions, and costumes of the Magar people.

The museum showcases the various utensils, articles, clothes, ornaments, musical instruments and the lifestyle of the Magar people.

The visitors can also buy goods produced by the Magar community at the museum.
Magars comprise 44 percent of the total population of the Rolpa district.
