KATHMANDU — Former Rajasthan Royals’ coach, Monty Desai, will arrive in Nepal soon for joining the coaching staff of Nepal National cricket team as a batting consultant. He was the batting consultant for the Nepal U19 cricket team in 2017.

The Nepal U19 cricket team had won the ACC U-19 Eastern Region cricket tournament and qualified for the ACC U-19 YOUTH ASIA CUP. The U19 team had beat India U19 for the first time in the history.

Desai is joining Nepal’s national men cricket team for the upcoming 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Two in February 2018 in Namibia.

While the Cricket Association of Nepal remains suspended, it is yet to be known of Desai’s salary and tenure. The list of 24 players for the upcoming matches is yet to be revealed. Desai’s coming to Nepal’s turf is seen positively when the national team has been struggling with batting since a long time.
