Banktes Films, the Nepalese distributor of the film ‘Adipurush’, has made the decision to halt the screening of the movie across Nepal. The director of the company, Manoj Rathi, explained that the film’s nationwide screening has been discontinued. Rathi stated, “Following this decision, the film’s screening has been stopped in all locations.”

The decision to halt the film’s release was made due to objections raised by theater owners who had stopped screening the film without an official letter from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Rathi expressed, “If theater owners cease screening without an official letter and simply through a Facebook post, we see no reason to continue. Legal action is unnecessary.”

Following the directives from Balendra Shah, the head of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, all 17 theaters in the city have been closed starting from Monday.

Rathi expressed discontent with the movie association and theater owners for discontinuing the film without an official decision. Furthermore, the distributor complained that Mayor Balen did not show attention towards resolving the issue. Under Mayor Balen’s instructions, city police arrived at the theaters on Sunday evening and verbally instructed them not to show the film.

Mayor Balen objected to the portrayal of Janki as India’s daughter and gave a three-day deadline for correction through Facebook. However, since no changes were made, he has decided to ban Indian films starting from Monday.
