On Saturday, October 17, the Austrian Police broke upsetting news informing a 31-year-old Nepali mom killed her three children and tried to kill herself.

The news went viral after an online newspaper, Krone, first published about this.

According to the primary investigation, all three girls were suffocated to death.

Vienna police quoted, “After killing her children, she also wanted to kill herself. Instead, she called the Police’s emergency number to inform us”.

Officers reached the family’s apartment in suburban Donaustadt district at 5:20 am and arrested the woman, who deliberately injured herself.

Bodies of three babies—including an eight-month-old—were found at home.

The eldest girl, 9, was sent to the hospital with a hope of revival, but the doctors declared her dead.

The police said that the mother is now fit for questioning, so they are preparing to start further investigations. There is no evidence to prove why she killed her babies.

Her relatives added the girls’ father is separated and living alone in Vienna.

According to the NRN (Non-residential-Nepalese) association Austria, the woman, Chandra Bhattarai Aryal, is originally from Butwal, Nepal. She moved to Austria along with her husband and children a few years ago.

NRN association also added husband, and the wife’s relationship was not going well.

“The filicide act is deeply saddening for the Nepali community,” said Prakash Kumar Subedi, Nepal’s ambassador to Austria. He also quoted, “we are contacting local authorities for further information.”
