Biratnagar, (RSS) — Biratnagar-based Nobel Medical College and Teaching Hospital has provided financial assistance of Rs 100,000 to former Nepali Congress President for Udaypur district, Narayan Bahadur Karki.

Karki who was the party candidate for the federal parliament election from Udaypur-2 was injured in the explosion of an improvised explosive device (pressure cooker bomb) carried out by a group boycotting the polls. The incident had taken place during the election publicity campaign (second phase) on November 29, last year. The support is meant for assisting in his treatment.

Hospital director Sunil Sharma handed a cheque of the assistance amount to NC Morang president Dig Bahadur Limbu amidst a programme here today. The amount will be spent in the treatment of injured leader who is undergoing treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu. The family is reportedly facing financial constraints in his treatment. Though the government had announced to bear all his treatment expenses, the family has a complaint that the government failed to live up to its promises.

NC district president Limbu demanded the guarantee of free treatment of Karki by the government. Hospital director Sharma vowed more support for him in the days ahead. The hospital says it has ensured free treatment to helpless and poor.
