KATHMANDU – Prime Minister Cup One Day Cricket Tournament is to be held here on May 23.

The tournament to be jointly organized by National Sports Council and Kathmandu Cricket Training Center will see the eight teams competing for the title carrying a purse of two million rupees.

Five teams from the five development regions and each from the Nepal Police, Nepal Army and the Armed Police Force will vie for the title, according to NSC member secretary Keshab Kumar Bista.

The team winning the title of the first runner up will go home with one million rupees while the teams successful in making a journey to the semis will get Rs 50,000 each.

Similarly, the winner of the title of the ‘Man of the Series’ will bag Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 each will be awarded to the player adjusted the ‘Best Batsman’ and ‘Best Bowler’ in the entire match.

The match that will conclude on June 7 will be held at the Kiritpur-based TU’s playground on a league-cum-knockout basis. Teams taking part in the event will be given Rs 50,000 each as match preparation expense.
