#RageagainstRape has emerged as a movement in Nepal at a time when rape cases have multiplied. After series of rape cases in Nepal, Nepali women and few men have had it enough and now are taking the issue to Twitter with the hashtag #RageagainstRape.
The recent infamous Durbarmarg rape case has not only exposed our police system but has questioned the judiciary too. Several reports by Nepali media outlets have revealed that the victim was coerced to compromise over a sum of money. Also, it has come to the limelight that the police were involved too as they were bribed. The judicial system, too, doesn’t take side with the victim in Nepal. If Nepali women are suffering such heinous act in Kathmandu, one can imagine how the situation is in rural areas.
Here are some of the tweets on #RageagainstRape
Literally trying to portray women as insatiable whores who will sleep with any number of men with “consent”. Give a repressed society like ours and find out that girl dare spend a night with her lover. What do you get? #victimblaming #RageAgainstRape https://t.co/uZRf8t9KfC

Why are people turning into monsters?? By people I mean those who are preying on innocent children & women to quench their lustful thirst & those who play blind and deaf knowing every thing, but dive into victim shaming & blaming instead. #RageAgainstRape ?

With due respect to human rights, I really wish (at times) that it would be better if we had a system of death penalty for the rapists so that nobody could walk freely after such heinous crimes #RageAgainstRape

Let me break it down for poor souls here:
Consensual sex == NOT a crime
Non-consensual sex = RAPE = = CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY
Hence, rape is rape! Don’t you dare defend or justify it!#RageAgainstRape https://t.co/350djBfNib

Sick of the ludicrous arguments made by men, some seemingly educated ones included, about rape. There should be no ‘ifs and buts’ about rape. #RageAgainstRape
and if you guys are still confused about consent, watch this simple video https://t.co/RuC4K6Sk3B— Prem Dhakal (@premdhakal) February 6, 2018
Forensic and medical examination of victims besides outlawing the two-finger test performed on them, dubbing it as unscientific #Stop judging Weather its Sexually active or inactive #RageAgainstRape https://t.co/WCXJbscWSN

Nepal’s forensic department doesn’t work effectively and lacks the equipment to check the DNA of a person’ from a strand of hair. The law also isn’t strong enough to deter rape. It is the time that Nepal government steps up to tackle this serious issue.
