Following the conclusion of the elections for the state legislature and representative assembly, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastav increased the frequency of his meetings with the top officials of political parties. While the votes were still being counted, Srivastav began meeting with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. On Wednesday, he arrived at his residence in Balkot and met with UML President KP Sharma Oli.

Despite the fact that the Election Commission announced the final results of the State Assembly and the House of Representatives following the election, the parties have yet to submit the list of MPs who will be subject to proportional representation.

The political parties are currently conducting an election review, while the leaders are also engaged in informal discussions about the power equation for the formation of the new government. The rush of Indian Ambassador Srivastava increased at this time. The current activities of the Indian ambassador are being closely monitored because it is claimed that India interferes in Nepal’s internal affairs. Prior to seeing UML President Oli on Wednesday, Srivastav also held a meeting with Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun. Prime Minister Deuba and Chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda had previously met by Ambassador Srivastav thrice each.

On Mangsir 10, during the election count, he arrived in Khumaltar and met with Chairman of the Maoist Center Prachanda. According to Prachanda’s secretariat, issues of contemporary politics and bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting with Prachanda.

On Mangsir 17, Prime Minister Deuba and Srivastav, who arrived in Baluwatar the same day and spoke privately, had a second encounter. According to reports from the second meeting, Deuba was thanked for representing Dadeldhura in the House of Representatives. But before that, he traveled to Khumaltar to meet Prachanda and Baluwatar to meet the prime minister before the election results were known.

The House of Representatives and State Assembly elections still needed to be counted, so the meeting between Prime Minister Deuba and Indian Ambassador Srivastav was taken seriously. Deuba and Srivast spoke one-on-one for roughly 45 minutes during the encounter. However, the contents of the meeting have not yet been made public.
