MAGALBARE, ILAM — Three Star Club Lalitpur has won the title of Fourth International Invitational Mai Valley Gold Cup Football tournament by defeating Manang-Marsyangdi Club Kathmandu.
In the final match held Monday, the Three Star Club defeated Manang-Marsyangdi Club 1-0 in a very competitive match.
As both teams failed to score in normal time, the match went into extra time. And Three Star Club’s Sunil Bal scored the only goal of the match in the third minute of additional time, leading his the team to victory.
With the win, Three Star Club bagged Rs 666,666 and a trophy while Manang-Marsyangdi Club received Rs 400,000 in cash as the runner up.
Likewise, Biraj Maharjan of Manang-Marsyangdi Club was declared the best player of the tournament. Maharjan won a Yamaha 150 CC Scooter.
Similarly, Manish Thapa of Mai Valley, Rejin Subba of Nepal Police Club and Yubraj Khadka and Nabin of APF Club were declared the highest scorer with two goals each.
All four strikers received Rs 7,000 in cash as the joint highest scorer of the tournament.
In the tournament, Yelan Neupane of Three Star Club was declared the best goalkeeper while Peter of Three Star was announced as the best defender. Three Star Club’s Sunil was declared the best mid fielder, Martin as the best forward player and Meghraj KC as the best coach. They received Rs 15,000 each.
Mai Valley Club’s Darshan Gurung won the title of Emerging Player and received Rs 20,000 in cash.
In the tournament, a total of 12 teams participated including three international, ‘A’ Division Clubs of Nepal and Departmental Teams.
