BIRENDRANAGAR, SURKHET — The first meeting of provincial assembly of province no 6 stressed on utilizing natural resources for development of the province.

Senior-most member of provincial assembly, Him Bahadur Shahi, who also chaired today’s meeting, announced the start of the meeting reading out the letter from the state chief summoning the meeting. Soon after this, the national anthem was played as well as tributes paid to the martyrs.

Speaking at the meeting, members stressed the need that all should stand together for the prosperity and development as the province is very weak economically.

Yamlal Kandel of CPN (UML) and Mahendra Bahadur Shahi of CPN (Maoist Centre) said that the province could be made prosperous by utilizing maximum natural resources.

Similarly, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi of the Nepali Congress and Soshila Shahi of Rastriya Prajatantra Party said that making federal structure, new to the country, successful depends on the people’s representatives.

The proposal of holding election of Speaker on February 12 put forth by Shahi was passed unanimously. The meeting also unanimously passed interim rules of procedures.

The next meeting has been scheduled for 1:00 pm on February 12. The meeting was held at the seminar hall of Irrigation Division Office, Birendranagar. Only a limited number of media persons were allowed into the meeting hall due to lack of space.

There are 10 districts in province no 6 and it has 40 provincial assembly members. RSS
